The
Forester and Outback are both Subaru SUVs and share almost all of the same
features, like the same 2.5L four-cylinder BOXER engine, standard Eye-Sight
Driver Assist Technology, and standard STARLINK multimedia with Apple Car-Play
& Android Auto. There are a few key differences between the two models that
make the Outback better for some Sterling Heights drivers or vice versa and
make the Forester the better option.
- Size: When it comes to size
the Subaru Forester is slightly bigger than the Outback. The Forester is
taller and has more headroom and 76.1 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
The Subaru Outback has 75.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space and is slightly wider than the Forester. Both provide very comfortable seating for five passengers.
- Powertrain: The Outback is
available with a second BOXER engine option. The 2.4L turbocharged BOXER
generates 260 horsepower and can tow up to 3,500 lbs. The Outback's 2.5L
BOXER can tow 2,700 lbs. while the Forester can tow 1,500 lbs.
- Performance: Both the Forester and
Outback is equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive on every model. The
Outback also comes standard with X-Mode and Hill Descent Control while the
Forester features X-Mode on every model except for the base. The new
special edition Outback Onyx features a unique Dual-Function X-Mode with
Deep Snow and Mud settings for extra off-road capability.
- Features: There are a few differences in what features the Outback and Forester have. The Forester just offers roof rails while the Outback has roof rails with integrated crossbars and tie-downs. The Outback also features an 11.6-inch touchscreen display.
